Our excursion to the art gallery of New South Wales was a learning excursion. During the excursion I saw the aboriginal art their. Sally the lady who was working their was describing the art for us. She had enough information but shortage of time did not let her explain more about aboriginal arts. we visited many paintings but the two arts which looked very interesting for me were the coal necklace and bark paintings on the wall. The bark painting which were painted by Mitthinari Gurruwiwi are counted as traditional art. This bark painting looks simple but there are many stories beyond them. Aboriginal people did not have any alphabetical language to pass their story to their future generation. These bark paintings contain different stories about aboriginal people which reflect their life and the Dreaming.the Dreaming is the base and foundation of Aboriginal belief which are reflected by bark painting. The second art which attracted my attention was the coal necklace which is created by Julie Gough who is a female artist from Tasmania. Julie Gough by this art is trying to explain the changes came to the land of their people after settlement of white Australian on this land. According New South wales art guider, Julie Gough was wearing this necklace and walking every where to show that white people changed their land and they are as a burden on their people shoulder.
